Next offering of Costa Rica: an Immersion in Culture and Nature is Dec 2018.
There will be a 1-credit NR499 or TRAL 499 special topics class for fall term 2018 to provide students seeking in-depth prepparation for both the adventure, ecology, and cultural components of the study-abroad opportunity.
During winter break 2018 (Dec 9 - 20) we will travel to Costa Rica for a 10-day adventure that includes back-country packing through tropical forests between family-owned farms, exploring the capital city of San Jose and learning the origin and culture of Costa Rica, river raft the most pristine river in Costa Rica, and explore coastal ecosystems on the Pacific side. This is a 3-credit NR499 / TRAL 499 course.
Your OSU faculty leads are Dr. Ron Reuter, landscape ecologist, and Mr. Andrew Hawley, an adventure leader and wilderness expert. Along the way we will be assisted by an extended family that has been living off the land in Costa Rica for generations.
